NOTICE OF COMPETITION

The Film Association Casereccio, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cuveglio and www.sognihorror.com, announces an international competition for selfproduced short films: the Cuveglio Film Festival 2010.

The event will be held on 29 and 30 October 2010 in the town of Cuveglio. Any changes to these dates will be communicated later to all members and authros and will be published on the official website of the event ww.cuvegliofilmfestival.it.

How to participate

The modalities of participation stated below, apply to all categories specified later.

The short films in competition should not last any longer than 20 minutes and meet the following requirements too:

only independent, or self produced or performed without funds from film production companies work will be allowed to the competition; they might not be intended for commercial distribution.

Works considered offensive to other people, including pornography, racial intolerance, incitement to violence or war will be excluded.

Each author is responsible for the content of its own work.

Works will be accepted in any format, providing that the final screening format is DVD.

The Staff of the Casereccio film association will be the judging selection committee, deciding the works eligible for competition in the respect of the above rules. Exceptions might be taken into consideration in case of works of particular interest.

Each participant must comply with every request submitted by this announcement and registration form, which might be different according to the category. They are always accessible through the online application wizard.

It is highly recommended that each work is accompanied by a short video (1 minute) explaining work story. This video is mandatory for all works selected for screening during the evenings of the Film Festival. If missing the work will be excluded from the event. It can be forwarded later than inscription time but in due time to be seen by the selecting committee and to be included in the festival schedule.

Every work must be sent in duplicate DVDs, enclosing the application form filled in and signed and the explanatory video by 15th August 2010 to:

Section "Free"

It is reserved to Italian citizens' works. The works belonging to this section do not have a predetermined theme.

Section "Videoclip"

It is reserved to video clips of a maximum of 4 minutes.

International section

This section is dedicated to all works created by foreign citizens, not Italian (i.e. those living outside Italy but not Italian).

The works will be accepted if played in Italian language or showing subtitles in Italian and/or English.

Section "Horror"

It is dedicated to all horror / thriller works by Italian citizens.

Out of Competition

A section for works out of competition, consisting of works not selected but nevertheless noteworthy.

Jury and prizes

Works will be judged both by a qualified jury and by the public. Below the list of the Prizes to be awarded, consisting of a trophy and in some cases a share cash:

Award from The American Southwest Museum of the short Cuveglio that best represents the theme "Equal / Different"

Special Mention: Jury Prize - crossing all sections

For the final list of prizes, please make reference to the specific page on the Festival's official website.

Public's opinion will be expressed by voting on a card given when entering the Festival's hall. Reviews emerged from both the public vote by the jury are final. All works selected for the competition will be screened during the festival evenings.

Prizes can be collected only during the ceremony. The absence during the ceremony of the work's representative supposed to receive the award involves the assignment of just the title.

Reimbursement

Each author of the selected films at the festival will have a fixed-price reimbursement for any accommodation costs incurred to attend the event. The amount and modalities of such grants will be announced when the selected works get chosen.

Archive

Copies will not be returned but will be part of the Casereccio Association. The organization has at any time, all usage rights, duplication and production of the works received. They might however be used in its own non-profit cultural and promotional activities. You can attach other material ( in addition to the synopsis, history, etc..), which will not however replace the textual information required in the form (it could still be used to make extra material for the Festival on DVD-ROM, website, catalogue, etc.).

Submission of entry form implies acceptance of each point of this announcement.

The organization reserves the right to make changes and additions which will be promptly reported.

The author, in case the work is awarded, authorizes the organization of the Festival to spread the work "on air" directly or make use of television and / or partner websites to promote the event and in any case, non-profit relieving the organization itself and TV networks and / or partner websites of claims for third party damages for any reason or title.
